Browns Bay Beach Front Lane Upgrade

Award Winner

Carried out on a road between a retail/business/residential town centre and public reserve accessing the beach, this high-profile and multiple award-winning project achieved its aim of creating a shared pedestrian / vehicle area that reoriented the town centre to the beach and reserve.

Key aspects of the scope of works included permeable concrete paving, road construction, protection and relocation of protected trees, timber boardwalking with associated street furniture, enviropods as part of stormwater drainageĀ and installation of streetlights.

Dempsey Wood's innovative construction methodology integrated the TMP and stakeholder liaison to enable the road to remain open throughout the contract. This included safe pedestrian access for people of all ages "through the site" to the beach and maintaining constant access for the retail and commercial business premises, apartment buildings and police station along the project route.
